| Growing up, I had the incredible good fortune to spend time with my Great-aunt Norma. More than anyone else in my life, this wonderfully eccentric character was single-handedly responsible for nurturing my imagination. Nobody in the family was ever quite sure about her British accent, her careful manners, or the fuss she made over tea. She was always traveling to exotic and distant locations. I would get very excited when a telegram arrived announcing her imminent return. Her very last trip was to Jamaica where she was the guest of a wealthy, high society English family. Her stories of the parties and island adventures were just mesmerizing to me back then. She spent most of her time on the northern coast near Port Maria Bay. There were open-air markets, women with baskets of fruit, sacks of spices and all colors of fabric. She would sometimes stop in mid-sentence;
her own words seemingly transporting her back to the sun-drenched beaches and cloud covered mountains. Her passing was shrouded in the same mystery in which she lived. She left me all of her diaries with the promise that I only share them with my children. I have inherited her wanderlust and love of tea. The rich, dark flavor and spicy aroma of Jamaican Roast Tea™ is a favorite. Thank you, Aunt Norma.
