Rich in mucopolysaccharides including algin and mannitol,
carotene and zeaxanthin; phenolic compounds; inorganicsalts of iodine, bromine
and potassium; calcium; sulphur; zinc; iron; magnesium.
Actions:
Used in the treatment of underactive thyroid, goitre and
overweight related to these conditions. Reputed to be helpful in relieving
rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis when taken internally and when used
externally on inflamed joints.
