The results of research into the dietary intake of children highlight the

- Fried potatoes account for between 25-50% of all vegetables consumed by
children.
- When fried vegetables are excluded, 30% of children consume less than one
serving of vegetables per day.
- Only 7% of children consume the recommended three or more servings of
vegetables and two or more servings of fruit daily.
- Half of all children consume less than one serving of fruit per day, and

- Include a variety of foods
- Plant-based foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables should make
up the foundation of the diet
- Keep saturated fat and sugar low – limit intake of high calorie snacks

Ensure you children get plenty of clean fresh air, exercise, physical
activity and a healthy diet with a variety of foods and plenty of pure water. A
sample diet for your child could look something like this…
1 cup of organic muesli or whole grain cereal with ½ cup of blueberries
(or other fresh berries) and ½ cup of calcium fortified soy beverage added
plus 1 slice of whole grain toast and ½ cup of 100% fruit juice with 1
scoop of greens+ kids. (replace the cereal
with 1 scrambled egg and 1 piece of whole grain toast if you wish)
